UK-LONDON-" Miles for Missing People" event launched

The charity Missing People is launching a new 6.2 mile (10k) run called ‘Miles for Missing People’ which will take place in Hyde Park, London on Saturday March 13th 2010, sponsored by Friends Reunited.

The event will bring together up to 1,000 families and friends of missing people, as they join together in Hyde Park to remember missing loved ones.

Kirsten O’ Brien, an ambassador of the charity, will be running the event in memory of her good friend and co-presenter Mark Speight who was missing for six days before tragically being found dead.

Kirsten said, "I am delighted to be running 'Miles for Missing People' and will be doing so to remember Mark and help bring resolution to all those currently missing. The charity brings so much happiness into the lives of the people it reunites, and this is a great opportunity to make a real difference. ”

The event, which has been timed as a warm-up run for anyone planning to take part in the Virgin London Marathon, will kick off a new partnership between Friends Reunited, the original social networking site, and the charity Missing People. Out of home advertiser Admedia is the event’s media partner.

MD of Friends Reunited, Andy Baker who will also be running, said, “We’re happy to be sponsoring Miles for Missing People. The charity provides a priceless service for the families and friends with missing loved ones; it helps to reunite people and that’s clearly something close to our hearts.”
